    Never been to our clinic? Here's what to expect so you can feel prepared.

    Arrival & Parking
    Free parking is available directly on the side of our building on E. Main Street. Look for the Richmond Animal Hospital sign.


    Check-In (5-10 Minutes)
    Arrive a few minutes early if you're a new client. Our team will greet you warmly and get you checked in quickly.


    Comfortable Exam Room
    We'll bring you and your pet to a clean, quiet exam room. Feel free to give treats, comfort your pet, or ask any questions while you wait for Dr. Sherman.


    Meeting Dr. Sherman
    Dr. Sherman will introduce himself, listen to your concerns, and perform a thorough nose-to-tail examination. He'll explain his findings in plain language and answer all your questions. No rushing. We schedule enough time for thorough appointments.


    Payment & Next Steps
    Before you leave, we'll review any treatment recommendations and costs, schedule follow-up appointments if needed, and answer any final questions. Payment is due at time of service (we accept cash, credit/debit cards, checks, and CareCredit).


    Most appointments last 20-40 minutes.

    How to Find Us

    From Burlington (20 minutes):
    Take I-89 South to Exit 11. Turn left onto US-2 East/ Main St. Continue approximately 2 miles into Richmond. Go through the traffic light. We are the grey building on the left before the fire station.


    From Montpelier (25 minutes):
    Take I-89 North to Exit 11. Turn left onto US-2 East/ Main St. Continue approximately 2 miles into Richmond. Go through the traffic light. We are the grey building on the left before the fire station.


    From Stowe (30 minutes):
    Take VT-100 South to I-89 North. Take Exit 11 and turn left onto US-2 Eas/tMain St. Continue approximately 2 miles into Richmond. Go through the traffic light. We are the grey building on the left before the fire station.


    From Waterbury (15 minutes):
    Head west on Route 2 for approximately 13 miles. We are the grey building on the right just after you pass the fire station and before you get to the center of town.


    From Jericho (10 minutes):
    Take VT-15 West to US-2 West. Turn left onto Lee River Rd. Then take the slight right onto Browns Trce Rd until you get to the stoplight in Richmond. Turn left onto E. Main Street in Richmond. We're the grey building on the left before you get to the fire station.

    Is This an Emergency?

    Giving medications correctly is crucial for your pet's health. Here are important safety tips:

    Life-Threatening Emergencies (Go to Emergency Hospital Immediately):

    • Difficulty breathing or gasping
    • Unconscious or unresponsive
    • Severe bleeding
    • Seizures lasting more than 2-3 minutes
    • Bloated, distended abdomen with retching (especially large dogs)
    • Known ingestion of toxins (antifreeze, rat poison, chocolate, etc.)
    • Severe trauma (hit by car, serious fall, etc.)
    • Heatstroke
    • Unable to urinate (especially male cats)
